Chapter 2: Marvelous Villains and Cumulative Statistics

My wife and I recently finished playing through every plot from the Legendary expansion game: Legendary Villains. It's nowhere near as vast as Legendary, but it did manage to be distinctive enough to provide a novel experience. We share a couple of criticisms for the game: 1) "Dodge" is our least favorite mechanic and; 2) It doesn't help to make Madame Hydra any better of a card. Neither of us are the biggest fan of Maria Hill from Legendary, but we appreciate that that card is at least a reasonable option on a turn with a small amount of stars. Madame Hydra feels like the whole point to her card is to take up space until you have a hand that doesn't have enough strength worth using. We agreed that if the card just didn't require us to discard another card just to play it, it would fix the card entirely. Other cards with dodge are hit and miss, but there is potential when made part of a clever combo. Meanwhile, Madame Hydra is not improved with "Dodge" and the fact that the only way she can generate the same two stars that Maria Hill can generate is by discarding another card, makes her a card we both actively avoided recruiting.

With the completion of an entire set, I am excited about adding a new element to this journal: cumulative statistics. I want to record how many times each card from a game has been included in our sessions. It will be a cumulative, running total of the cards we've used. I'll be adding it to the top of the running list of sessions for each game we play. I considered making these cumulative statistics their own page, but I didn't want to overdo it with the number of pages on the blog. Then I considered switching this blog to a website, but decided against that when I figured it would take away from the journaling feeling I'm going for; however, I am leaving that option as something I may be open to in the future. The first game that will have a cumulative statistics section is Legendary Villains and then Disney Villainous. It will take quite some time to add it to the Legendary page since we are currently at 107 total games.

One last thing: I am so stoked to say that while I was writing this entry, I was reminded that a second edition of the Legendary core set was supposed to be coming out soon. So, I looked it up and apparently it came out three days ago! So excited to pick that up!
